Mike has had that bit of information since they were kids, he’s held on to that stored it in a file marked Trevor in his mind along with things like Trevor’s favorite foods and the way he sounds with he laughs all high and floating, the shape of the long line of Trevor’s neck when he has his head tipped back exhaling slow and smooth before passing Mike the joining. He’s got a whole lifetime of information on Trevor, so many things he could use against him if he ever really wanted to, but despite everything he’s never wanted to even when Trevor got him kicked out of college and off the path his life should have taken, even when Trevor set him up on a drug bust, even when Trevor punched him  Mike has never felt the need to use any of that against him. But now, now that Trevor has not only threatened Mike but Harvey as well, he has it there again at the forefront of his mind and for the first time he might actually use it. For the first time Mike lets himself see a situation where he could use that information against Trevor. And Trevor, Trevor who acts on his pain and his anger and frustration. Trevor who never really thinks anything through beyond his initial satisfaction is finally, finally, seeing just what Mike can do when pushed. He’s been trying to get Mike to this point throughout their entire friendship. He’s been pushing at Mike, finding all those places he’s vulnerable and pressing at them, just as often as he’s there to protect Mike from anyone else doing the same thing. For so long he’s been the safe place for Mike, and now, now he’s seeing that he’s pushed too far. He’s made himself into just one more pressure point, one more painful jab and Mike can’t take it anymore. And they’re both realizing it now. They’re so tied up in each other, wrapped up in shared pain and so many memories, and it just hurts to think about those things. And to remember what they used to have and where they are now, and maybe they’re both realizing they’ll be better off apart. And god that hurts.

See, Mike ends up dropping that pot all over the floor at Tony Stark’s interview instead of Harvey’s. He gets drafted as Pepper 2.0. And then everything is beautiful and nothing hurts because Mike is amazing and talented and can adapt and Tony. Also, Harvey Specter is Tony’s lawyer and also kind of specializes in superheroes and even manages to try mentoring Mike when he’s not even his associate in this ‘verse and everything is basically perfect. Okay? Okay.

I don’t even know what to call these pairings, guys. Rosstark? No. Starkross. Spectark. Spectarkross. Stevonna. There’s some lovely Clint/Coulson, too.
